Clarence Johnson III

Clarence Johnson III was awarded OffBeat Magazine’s Best of the Beat Award for Best Saxophone Player in New Orleans in 2000 and the Big Easy Award in the Best Emerging Artist category in 1999. Clarence has been featured in articles in The Times-Picayune and at He has recorded with Tori Amos, Bruce Hornsby, Cubanismo, Davell Crawford, the Yacomo Allstars, Michael Ray and the Cosmic Krewe and the gospel group, Blessed.

Clarence has performed nationwide with major acts including John Scofield, Aretha Franklin, Wynton Marsalis, New York Voices and Bill Summers and many others. He has also has the opportunity to work with Henry Butler, Dixie Cups, Ellis Marsalis, Irma Thomas, Marcia Ball, George Porter, Jr. and the Runnin’ Partners, Zigaboo Modeliste, Moses Hogan, Philip Manuel, Don Vappie and the Creole Serenaders, and a host of other
New Orleans greats.
