Bruce Sunpie Barnes

Barnes has devoted himself to the music and culture of Louisiana and has traveled the world playing Zydeco, blues and Afro-Louisiana music. He plays the piano, percussion, accordion, and harmonica and is known for incorporating Caribbean and African rythms into his music. His band Sunpie and the Louisiana Sunspots have recorded five critically acclaimed albums and play festivals and concerts in the United States and internationally. Barnes is the Second Chief of the North Side Skull and Bone Gang, one of the oldest existing carnival groups in New Orleans. He is also a member of the Black Men of Labor Social Aid and Pleasure Club.
