Positive Vibrations Foundation is pleased to announce it will be providing the music for this year's An Edible Evening. On March 24, 2011, Edible Schoolyard New Orleans (ESY NOLA) will host its second annual An Edible Evening, a garden party under the stars in the edible garden at Samuel J. Green Charter School. "Ben Faulks and I first toured the Edible Schoolyard last year and were very impressed," said Foundation President Wiley Verstappen. "It is encouraging to see the emphasis on healthy eating, cultivation, and food education in the school system."
The event will feature live music, great local food from New Orleans’ finest restaurants, seasonal cocktails, and a silent auction. All proceeds will directly support ESYNOLA’s efforts to integrate organic gardening and seasonal cooking experiences into the curriculum, culture, and cafeteria meal programs at four FirstLine Schools in New Orleans.
In March 2010 the garden at Edible Schoolyard NOLA filled with happy revelers for the first annual An Edible Evening garden party. Co-chairs Elizabeth Crawford and Kim Elms and their committee arranged a fantastic evening filled with live music, fantastic local food, a silent auction, and special guest Alice Waters. The event raised over $60,000 to support hands-on kitchen and garden programming, ensuring the future sustainability of Edible Schoolyard NOLA.
This year, all proceeds will directly support ESYNOLA’s efforts to integrate organic gardening and seasonal cooking experiences into the curriculum, culture, and cafeteria meal programs at four FirstLine Schools in New Orleans. Tickets start at $45 and doors open at 6:00pm.
"We are looking forward to a fantastic event and embracing the growth of the Edible Schoolyard and its students as one of our new initiatives in 2011," said Verstappen.
